Nate Hutchings joined Keller Macaluso in August 2011. Nate’s practice focuses on all aspects of real estate transactions, as well as business transactions and business litigation. He earned his juris doctorate, magna cum laude, from the Maurer School of Law, Indiana University – Bloomington in 2009, his M.B.A in real estate, summa cum laude, from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University – Bloomington in 2009, and his B.S. in construction management from Brigham Young University in 2005. Prior to joining Keller Macaluso, Nate worked for two years as general manager and in-house counsel for a real estate development company in Idaho, where he managed all aspects of a 270-acre master planned lake community and served as counsel for the developer and 18 other defendants and counter claimants in a complex mechanic’s lien, breach of contract and consumer protection act litigation involving the subdivision. Prior to his life as an attorney, Nate gained extensive experience in construction and real estate development, having worked for Standard Pacific Homes in California, Centex Homes in Utah and California, and for private development companies in Salt Lake City, Utah and Greenwood, Indiana.
Representative Matters:
- Successfully defended developer and lot owners against a $456,000 mechanic’s lien and breach of contract claim by a contractor, obtaining complete dismissal of the contractor’s claims on summary judgment.
- Represented developer in negotiating the workout and restructure of debt with its bank.
- Represented developer in negotiating the sale of multiple parcels of real property.
- Represented general contractors in drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Represented start-up companies in the formation of their business entities.
Outside the Office
Nate and his wife Maureen have one daughter and one son. Besides spending time with his family, Nate enjoys playing sports, especially basketball and golf. Nate and his family are members of the Carmel Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nate also served a two-year Spanish-speaking mission in East Los Angeles, California.
